The Association of Jersey Architects are excited to announce Shelley Bontje, Sustainability Mobility Consultant at The Dutch Cycling Embassy came over to Jersey to give us this talk!

This talk entitled 'Dutch placemaking: The bicycle as humble miracle' took place at St Paul's Centre with Q&A after.

The talk focused on sharing differences and comparisons between the Netherlands and Jersey concerning placemaking and the role of traffic in general and cycling more specific. Shelley discussed the Dutch network approach towards infrastructure, the so called hardware, as well as discussing the social side of cycling, such as who actually cycles and why, either the so called software.

Shelley enriched her conversation with plenty of visual examples, in this way her story will be made visible and the applicability in real life situations will be shown. Shelley is very much looking forward to exchange knowledge, ideas and together make steps towards a future proof and liveable world.

This event is kindly sponsored by Creative Spaces - Creative Island Partnership.
